We are a friendly and disciplined dance school. We expect commitment to classes and good attitudes. Children learn so many more skills than just dance. They learn how to present themselves, how to work with others and how to be organised and respectful. I welcome boys and wish we had a few more as sadly they are in the minority. I have had a lot of experience teaching boys and have past students at some of the top schools in London.
Lisa Davies is known as Miss Lisa to the students and trained at the Royal Ballet School where she was awarded the prestigious Diploma in Teaching of Ballet. RBS Dip. TTC
Lisa started dancing at the age of 2 and entered her RAD Grade exams, whilst attending an academic school, under the wonderful teaching of Valerie Hitchen and Susan Robinson. Her proudest achievemnet was passing her Advanced Rad with commended (ARAD). At the age of 17 she auditioned for various Ballet and Dance schools and was offered places for all the schools she auditioned for including Rambert and the Royal Academey of Dance. Lisa decided to take her place at the Royal Ballet School and completed the three year teacher training course in 1997. Whilst at the Royal Ballet School she was taught by hugely famous and respected teachers such as Valerie Adams, Hope Keelan, Patricia Linton, Julie Lincoln, Maria Fay, Sir Anthony Dowell and Dame Merle Park to name just a few. Dame Ninette de Valois who founded the course attended her graduation where Lisa also received qualifications in ISTD Modern and Tap, ISTD Cechetti Ballet, ISTD Natonal, Benesh notation, Spanish dance and all the levels of RAD teaching qualifications. Since graduating Lisa has also qualified to be a Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) instructor and keeps up to date with all the RAD work by attending courses in London. Also Lisa attends a number of days at White Lodge and Upper School of the Royal Ballet School as a graduate every year. Former pupils from the Davies School of Dance have gone on to some of the top schools such as The Royal Ballet School, Laban and Performers College. Also pupils can be found on the stage dancing in Australia and touring America. Miss Lisa Davies(aka Lisa Langley) is married with three children, two cockerpoos and a cat!
I encourage you to try and experience classes rather than me writing a huge paragraph about each subject. It is hard to explain in words what I offer for your children so please get in touch as the best way to find out is to come and watch or join in for a free trail lesson.
We enter RAD Ballet exams at least once a year and the children and adults have the opportunity to take part in a full Performance on a stage every other year. Cinderella was a huge succes in July 2019. You can see many comments about it on our Davies School of Dance Facebook page and Instagram account.
I love what I do and am passionate about dance. Come and join our exceptional school.
